Lauren Linken, MD - Physician / Assistant Chief Medical Officer / FM + OB Faculty
Dr. Linken grew up in New Jersey but moved to Huntsville, Alabama with her family during high school. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where she also attended medical school. She then moved up north to complete residency training at UMass FMR’s rural continuity clinic. Knowing that she wanted to return to the South and practice obstetrics, she returned to Alabama to complete an OB fellowship in Tuscaloosa where she connected with Dr. Waits and Dr. Smith and joined CMC/CFMR as a faculty member and family physician in 2015. Her professional interests include practicing obstetrics and providing opioid dependence treatment through buprenorphine, as well as managing Hepatitis C patients and helping to get them cured. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, reading and music. She is currently a member of her church choir, as well as a group called The Iron City Singers in Birmingham. She also likes to crochet, is learning to quilt and is fluent in Spanish.
Andrew Posey, DO - Physician / FM + OB Faculty
Dr. Drew Posey is originally from Texas and joined Cahaba Medical Care in September 2018. He earned his undergraduate degree in nutrition science from Texas A&M University, then went on to earn his medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency training, as well as an international fellowship at Via Christi Family Medicine in Wichita, Kansas. It was during his time in med school that Dr. Posey realized his love for treating a variety of patient populations, and he felt that family medicine would be versatile career choice and a great way to serve others. His professional interests include teaching, endoscopy and tropical medicine. When he’s not working, he enjoys fixing things around the house, hiking and traveling. Dr. Posey currently lives in Birmingham along with his wife, daughter and their dog, and he is excited to be a part of the Cahaba Medical Care and Family Medicine Residency family!
Jonathan Peters, MD - Physician / CFMR Rural Track Director / FM + OB Faculty
Dr. Jonathan Peters grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and joined Cahaba Medical Care in September 2018. He attended Auburn University and earned a BA in chemistry, graduating summa cum laude in 2007. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 2011 and from there went to Via Christi in Wichita, Kansas to complete specialty training in family medicine. With an interest in practical applications for broadly trained family medicine physicians, Dr. Peters pursued an international family medicine fellowship through Via Christi. After graduating, he worked in rural Kansas practicing full-spectrum, whole family care. Although he is thankful for his time training and working in Kansas, Dr. Peters is grateful for the opportunity to return home to Birmingham and work with CMC seeing patients and teaching residents. He enjoys caring for children and adults with chronic diseases, obstetric patients, refugees, patients who are acutely ill and require hospitalization, and patients with international travel plans.
Casey Hicks, MD - Physician / FM Faculty
Dr. Hicks is from Haleyville, Alabama and joined Cahaba Medical Care in August 2016. He attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he earned a BS in biology with honors. After completing his undergraduate education, he attended medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine where he graduated in 2012. Having chosen to pursue speciality training in family medicine, he completed his residency with the University of Kansas School of Medicine - Wichita at Via Christi. He then completed a fellowship in international family medicine through Via Christi, as well as a family medicine obstetrics fellowship with CMC. His professional interests include international medicine and obstetrics. He currently lives in Bessemer and is a member of The Church at Brook Hills.

Kaylee Perkins, PA-C - Physician Assistant
Kaylee Perkins, a resident of Helena, Alabama, joined Cahaba Medical Care in October 2017. She received a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from Auburn University in 2014. She then attended the University of South Alabama, where she earned a Master of Health Science in physician assistant studies and is a member of of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, dancing, reading, and attending Church of the Highlands.
Amanda Barton, CRNP - Nurse Practitioner
Amanda Barton received a BSN in Nursing from Samford University in 2001. After graduation, she worked in several areas including the Emergency Room, CVICU, Hospital Education and Anesthesia. She also served as the Trauma and Pediatric Co-Chair for the Emergency Nurses Association in Alabama from 2007-2012. She obtained her MSN-FNP from the University of Alabama Birmingham in 2013 and is certified through the Academy of American Nurse Practitioners. She is married with three beautiful children and resides in Hoover.

Jenn Moebes, PA-C - Physician Assistant
Jennifer Moebes is originally from Branford, Connecticut. She attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, where she completed a BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences, graduating summa cum laude in 2013. She then went on to attend Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut where she earned her Master of Health Science degree with a focus in Physician Assistant Studies. She was awarded the Bruce Fichandler Community Service Award, which recognized her commitment to serving both rural and urban communities in the U.S. and abroad. Her professional interests include gynecology and oral health.
Felisha Yancey, RN - Office Manager
Felisha Yancey studied nursing at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa and joined Cahaba Medical Care in 2016 after receiving her LPN. She decided to go back to nursing school to become a registered nurse (RN) while continuing to work for CMC and was awarded an associate degree in nursing in 2018. She was then promoted and currently serves as office manager for CMC’s Bessemer office. She has a 6-year-old daughter, Kailynn, and currently resides in McCalla.
Sarah Catherine Sorrell, MS, RD, LD - Dietitian / Nutritionist
Sarah Catherine joined Cahaba Medical Care in June of 2019. She completed her undergraduate degree, as well as her masters degree at the University of Alabama. She then moved to Birmingham to complete supervised practice and further increase her experience in the areas of adolescence and eating disorders. These experiences led her to rotate through many facilities across Birmingham, including 10 months at Children's Hospital & UAB. She is honored to be a part of the Cahaba family, where she serves patients in the communities of Bessemer, Ensley and West End. She currently lives in Bessemer with her husband and their black lab, Ellie. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time at the dog park and discussing life/taking walks with friends around Birmingham's many gorgeous green spaces.
Pam Cunningham, RN, RCS - Cardiac Ultrasound Technician
Pam Cunningham is originally from Selma, Alabama and has worked in echocardiography for 40 years. She received an associate degree in nursing from Wallace State Community College in Selma and is licensed as a cardiac ultrasound technician by Cardiovascular Credentialing International. She has completed echocardiogram preceptorship programs at both Carraway Methodist Hospital and UAB Kirkland Clinic in Birmingham, and she is also a member of the American College of Cardiology. In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, flying planes and motorcycling.

Melanie Neff, LICSW - Behavioral Health Counselor
Melanie is originally from Rockville, Maryland, where she lived until she attended college at Samford University. She majored in Human Development and Family Studies in undergrad, then went to grad school to receive her LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker) at the University of Alabama. She is currently studying to take the test to receive her clinical license and become an LICSW. She has always had a passion to help people, especially those who have the least privilege and least access to resources. Her background is in working with adults with special needs, and working in the court system with victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. She is passionate about improving health care and the justice system for those who are often discrimanted against and raising awareness for sexual assault and domestic violence. In her spare time, she loves to cook, exercise, go to Farmer's Markets, read, spend time outside and spend time with friends. She and her husband (and their puppy they are currently training) live in Highland Park and love being so close to Birmingham city.
Katie Waits, LBSW - Case Management Social Worker
Katie obtained her bachelor's degree in social work from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas in 2010. She then spent nine years working for Child Protective Services as an investigator in Texarkana before relocating to Alabama. She joined the social work team at CMC in June of 2019, where she splits her time between our West End and Bessemer clinics. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her border collie, Shadow.
