Residency Graduation 2023
The 11th annual graduation ceremony for Cahaba - UAB Family Medicine Residency was held on Monday, Jun 26, 2023 at the Hyatt Regency - Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham, Alabama. Thirteen residency graduates were honored, as well as seven fellowship graduates.
RURAL RESIDENTS:
Folabi Ariganjoye, MD will practice at Tennova Medical Group, a community hospital affiliated outpatient practice in Clarksville, TN
Shay Gibson, DO will work for a private practice in Childersburg, AL
Molly Hamilton, MD is staying with Cahaba to complete an OB Fellowship
Joseph Mossad, MD will work for an outpatient / inpatient community group in Salem, IL
Jonathan Sharley, MD will work for a church-based Family & Lifestyle Medicine clinic in Lansing, MI
URBAN RESIDENTS:
Noureen Abbas, MD plans to go home to Lahore, Pakistan for a few months then work as an outpatient physician in Birmingham, AL
Daniel Fijabi, MD plans to join the faculty at UAB's Department of Family and Community Medicine
Clara Formby, MD is staying with Cahaba as a faculty physician in Birmingham, AL
Sharon George, MD will work for an outpatient clinic in the Northside Hospital System in Decatur, GA
Mark Gingerich, MD will join an established practice in a critical access hospital in Rolla, ND
Gavin Liu, DO will work as a family practitioner for a FQHC in San Jose, CA
Christian Lopes, DO is staying with Cahaba to complete an OB Fellowship
Megan Ward, MD is staying with Cahaba as a faculty physician in Birmingham, AL
EMERGENCY MEDICINE FELLOWS:
Isaiah Matroni, DO is staying with Cahaba as a faculty physician in Maplesville, AL
Philip Ojeabulu, MD will work in the Emergency Department at a hospital in Memphis, TN
COMMUNITY MEDICINE FELLOWS:
Shawn Cherian, DO is moving to Dallas, TX to join a missional community to prepare for international work
Renee Cherian, DO is also moving to Dallas, TX with her family
Alex Lea, MD (also completed a Global Health Fellowship) is moving to Irving, TX to practice family medicine among international populations
Sherin Lea, DO will practice family medicine for a FQHC in Dallas, TX
GLOBAL HEALTH FELLOW:
Amanda Alldredge, MD will work as an attending physician at an academic mission hospital in South Asia
