2nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration
On Saturday, June 17, Cahaba Medical Care was proud to host its 2nd Annual Juneteenth Community Celebration at our West End location. The celebration was full of activities intended to educate and bring the community together in a spirit of celebration.
The event was free of charge and featured free food and treats, as well as bouncy houses, hula hoops, jump ropes, and food demonstrations. Participants were offered the opportunity to have their blood pressure checked, and members of the Nathifah Dance Company were on-hand to teach a variety of dances and share information on the culture of dance and Juneteenth.
A number of esteemed guests attended the event as well, including Commissioner Sheila Tyson, Pro Tem Crystal Smitherman, Senator Roger Smitherman, Judge Carol Smitherman, Community Stakeholder Debra Mays, West Manor Neighborhood President, Delores Clayton, Arlington West End Neighborhood President and more. Their support for the community from our leaders has been key in pushing us forward in creating healthier communities. They too had the opportunity to enjoy the festivities and took time to interact with members of the community.
Cahaba Medical Care was delighted to be able to provide such a meaningful event to the community. It was an opportunity to celebrate Juneteenth in an atmosphere that promoted education and encouraged guests to embrace culture through dance. A truly memorable event, it was met with much enthusiasm and appreciation from all who attended.
