Cahaba Welcomes New Full-Time Psychiatrist
Cahaba Medical Care, a prominent leader in comprehensive healthcare, proudly announces the addition of psychiatrist Dr. Boone G. Rountree to its team of healthcare providers. This appointment underscores Cahaba Medical Care's continuous commitment to bolstering its mental health services significantly throughout its service area.
Dr. Rountree will be primarily based out of Cahaba's Woodstock location, where he will utilize his specialized skills to provide outstanding psychiatric care to the local community. Beyond Woodstock, he will also extend his services to Birmingham, Marion, and Centreville communities, further demonstrating Cahaba's commitment to holistic care and the integration of behavioral and primary health care.
In addition to serving adult patients, Dr. Rountree is skilled in child and adolescent psychiatry, enabling him to extend his care to younger populations in underserved communities. His arrival will contribute significantly to Cahaba Medical Care's mission of delivering quality, compassionate mental health support to individuals of all ages.
This enhancement of Cahaba steam is partly in response to the heightened awareness of mental health needs brought to light by the popular podcast "S-Town." The podcast, set in Woodstock, exposed the critical need for comprehensive mental health resources in rural areas, a cause that Cahaba Medical Care has long championed.
Cahaba Medical Care established its social work & behavioral health department in 2012 and has since endeavored to incorporate behavioral and mental health into the multidisciplinary services offered to patients at every clinic. Cahaba’s behavioral health providers partner with the medical team to provide innovative treatments for many primary care patients who otherwise might not have been identified as needing behavioral or mental health interventions. Additionally, all patients at Cahaba Medical Care are universally screened for substance use disorders, depression, and at-risk behaviors, and integrated behavioral care is provided as indicated.
